Hello and welcome to possibly the most sinister cat advert ever, but we give it the thumbs up! Number four in our great pet advert feature is this piece for Cravendale milk. Imagine the scene, cats, frustrated for years by there inability pick up and hold the smallest thing in their tiny paws suddenly develop opposable thumbs. Not only that they become a highly skilled and organised feline force with one thing on their minds….~~revenge~~ Milk…*gulp*

ITV's "This Morning" Hub Hound presented with ID Tag from Pretty Paws

We were so, so pleased last week ITV's "This Morning", one of the most popular breakfast programs in the UK, approached us to supply them with a blue engraved ID tag for thier very fist "Hub Hound"! Oscar who is an o-so-cute 12 week old bearded collie was voted for by viewers and appeared on the flagship program last thursday (31st March). The "glitter" bone shaped tag was rushed out to the London studio and made it just in time to great Ozzy on his arrival!

The beautiful bundle of fluff seemed to cause havoc in the studio whilst presenters Samanthi, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby tried their upmost to keep the show ticking along nicely. "Ozzy" managed to knock Samanthi over within a couple of seconds (not that she seemed to mind too much) and escaped (or was rather released) by Phillip to sniff the cameras and camera men!

Thanks to hub presented Samanthi for her tweet too, she seemed to love the ID as much, possibly even more than Oscar!

Great pet advert #3 - Happy inside Ikea cat commercial

Welcome to the third in our series of great pet adverts! Many of you will already know we are massive fans of this beautiful advert because we've mentioned it many times before. Quite simply one of the most perfect cat videos around. Who'd have thought releasing 100 cats into a furniture store would have produced such amazing pictures, add in the soft piano music and there you have it.

Although cats are without doubt the most elegent of animals we're still waiting to see the out takes of them being, well, you know how cats get around new furniture right?

You can't help but watch it over, and over, and over again.

Great pet advert #2 - Every home needs a Harvey

The second in our featured "Great pet adverts" series just had to be this one, every home needs a "Harvey". Ironically this isn't advertising anything pet related at all, it's an advert....to sell adverts. Go figure?? Anyway, we don't care what the aim of the commercial is, all we want to do is pick up Harvey and take him home with us.

The story goes that a couple are at the dogs home looking for a new pet, after looking at a few run of the mill (but very cute) dogs they come across Harvey. Now Harvey is no ordinary dog, he can use a remote control to switch on the TV. Cleaver trick I hear you say? The thing is, not only can he switch it on but he has prepared clips of just what a wonder dog he is, ironing, washing clothes, cooking, driving the kids to school, mowing the lawn, you name it he can do it! This is one puppy who won’t stay in the pound for long!

The advert quite reminded us of the time we went to pick out Tia from our local dogs home, apart from the bit where Harvey does anything but sleep of course!

It's not like us to blow our own trumpet, well not often anyway but we came a cross a great article in The Guardian last week whilst browsing the latest doggy styles and trends and what do you know we get a mention! The great little article by Kate Carter can is well worth a read if you are interested in what the "well dressed dog is wearing this season".

You can find our mention about half way down the page just above the picture of Winona Ryder....I'm not sure what she would think about being pictured below the heading "Well dressed dogs" but still, she is well dressed at least.

Larry the rescure cat called in to protect the British Prime Minister

After seemingly endless speculation at Number 10 the British Prime Minister, David Cameron has appointed a new rat catcher to his team. In a true tail of rags to riches Larry the rescue cat succeeds his predecessor Humphy who retired way back in 1997. Rats are a major problem in London and even the most famous address in the city can not escape, after numerous rat sightings during live TV reports the PM obviously decided enough was enough and called in the experts.

We wish 4 year old Larry who will have "free run of the house" all the best with his new vocation and home!

Pet only airline launch in the US

The worlds first pet only airline launched yesterday on their maiden flight from New Yorks Farmingdale airport! The company, set up by a couple of pet owners in 2005 will make flights to 5 US destinations, hoping to expand to 25 major cities in the future. After the stressful experience of having their Jack Russell travel in the cargo hold the couple just "wanted to do something better". They certainly have!

Pets will benefit from pre flight walks, bathroom breaks and lunch at cities on route. they will also be checked every 15 minutes throughout the flight which, if flying from New York to LA will take 24 hours in total. At just $91 for the cross country trip the fee is comparable to the human equivalent.

As I was keeping up to date with the goings on in the world of pet accessories today I stumbled across this great little article from Tristan Andrews who describes designer cat collars as “the bomb”. We think that’s a good thing?

Tristan then goes on to explain the advantages of having a collar for your cat, something which we try to stress as often as possible throughout the site. It’s also something we have in mind whenever we are looking for new supplies and designs, Tristan continues,

“Personalized and non-personalized collars come in a breakaway form that protects your cat from being caught and trapped by branches, bushes, fences, and other objects she could get her collar attached to so she couldn't get away. The breakaway collars comes with a clasp that pops open when sufficient pressure is used. Elastic collars also allow a cat to escape when her collar is snagged on something. As she wiggles to get free, this collar will stretch enough to let her get the collar off.”

The article is worth a read for anybody who is looking to invest in a new cat collar in the near future as it touches on all areas quite briefly. Something that we struggle to do here at Pretty Paws & Cool Cat! All our cat collars are either breakaway or elastic which is the article points out are by far the safest options for your cat.

"Kitten Cam" at Your Cat Mag!

We’ve just received word via twitter here at Pretty Paws about Your Cat Magazines’ fabulous “Kitten Cam” featuring their very own new family of Norwegian forest kittens and mum. It seems we are a little behind the times as you can see, the kittens are now 5 weeks old! Cat breeder Adele Mills has been kind enough to allow “Your Cat” to shoot video footage of these adorable little kittens and they’ve been sharing the results with the world via YouTube (of course!)

The above video shows the gorgeous little babies at 5 weeks old wondering round, washing and generally being cute kittens under the watchful eye of proud mum of course.

The owner of a blue Pit Bull was surprised Tuesday afternoon when her dog shifted the car into gear while she was washing it at Spot Free Car Wash in Pryor.

Police Officer Brent Crittenden said the 1982 Buick doesn't require the brake to be pressed when shifting, which allowed the dog to shift the car into reverse. He said the 70-pound dog jumped on the dash and somehow shifted the car into reverse.

The car backed out of the a car wash bay on the south side of the car wash and continued onto Highway 69. It traveled north in reverse, then looped around and backed into the automated car wash lane.Crittenden said the vehicle almost hit another car while backing up on the highway.

"This is the first time in 26 years where I get to work a wreck and leave all my driver info blank," said Crittenden. He joked about waiting on confirmation of the dog's driver's license before writing any tickets.

The animal was licensed with the city of Pryor, so "I didn't have to take the dog to jail."The owner of the vehicle was unable to provide proof of insurance, so the car was impounded.

Crittenden said since the dog is registered with the city, the owner was allowed to walk the dog home.

Big coat weather!

Well yes, it’s finally here. Last week saw the official return of the “Big Coat” much to Tia’s amusement. After the SNOW (!!) earlier last week I dusted the cobwebs off and it is now pride of place next to the door ready to be called into action whenever her ladyship feels the need for a trip to inspect the boarders of ones kingdom!

It’s not only me who is in need of the coat now though, Tia’s winter box also came out too and wasn’t she excited! There’s been little need for her hoodies and coats all summer (what summer?!) but now with the cold wind, rain and (I’ll say it again) SNOW Tia can be found sporting some kind of protection from the elements.

So far in little over 5 days she’s been out in her very macho “Camo pac-a-mac” dog coat by Puchi, her ever so girly "Little Miss Sunshine" Hoodie, Security Hoodie and not to mention her little doggy scarf! You will see us stocking up on all the winter items this week and the cold sets in!! Wrap up warm people (and pets!)

We are please to say that our new store "The Dog Beds Store" is starting to take shape! This is something we have been working on in the background for a while now as we feel the dog beds deserve their own space.

At the moment the sales will still be though Pretty Paws but some time in 2009 The Dog Beds Store will be re launched as a store in its own right. In the mean time we will be looking to add as many beds as possible to the exciting range.

As some of you will know Tia turned 2 this week and as a special treat we took her over to her absolute favourite place in the whole world…..the beach! We stayed all weekend and Tia really enjoyed going to the beach for a huge run twice a day, she spent the whole trip back asleep, not that she wouldn’t have done that anyway. Lazy Bones! Tia would like to say thank you to all her friends who sent her a Birthday card, she rather enjoyed chomping on the paper.

Tia's two new friends have been added to The Gallery. As you can see from the picture these two beautiful sisters are...well.....lazy! That's not always the case for Purple however who seems to lose a collar once a month whilst out in the local allotments. It just goes to show how important a cat safety collar is and Pretty Paws Accessories would recommend them for all cat owners, we don't sell anything else.

The sun is here!

Just to remind everybody to keep their pets safe in the sun. Sun burn is not just something for us humans and it’s easy for a pet to overheat. Make sure they have access to both water and shade at all times.

Tia was out in her Dog T Shirt yesterday to keep the sun off her back, she burns so quickly! All damp looking because of the sun screen too! Very nice!

The keen eyed amongst you will have noticed we’ve been adding little bit to the site here and there. There have been a number of additions to Pet Beds, Dog Collars and Dog Collar and Dog Lead Sets over the past few weeks. We just simply haven’t had time to update the Blog as the Christmas rush hit us hard with Hoodies, ID Tags, Cat Collars and much more literally flying out every day!

Now the Christmas deadline has passed (we had to bring it forward to cope!) I thought I should update you on what has been happening.

Novelty Pet Beds – We have added two Pet Beds for either small Dogs or Cats which are both in the shape of very classy motors. The “Black Bannz Pet Bed” and “Silver Limo Pet Bed” are both welcome additions to our ever increasing Pet Bed range

Dog Collar and Dog Lead sets – I’ve finally got around to grouping together some matching dog collars and leads which were available individually before. You can now by them as a set which, although not really new should save a few clicks!

Cat collars – We have added a new range of designer cat collars in the shape of these fabulous offerings from Puchi (formerly Pucci.) These great cat collars are sure to be popular with cat owners as they come in a number of lovely colours.

We are yet to add a number of great items, this should hopefully happen whilst you are all over indulging during the festive period! We will be adding Dog Collars, Dog Collar and Dog lead set, Pet beds and even more dog clothing!

Hi All!

Sorry it’s been a while since our last update, it’s been really hectic here at Pretty Paws! We just wanted to update you all on the new member of our family! Say hello to Tia!

We have rescued Tia today from our local dogs home in Stoke-on-Trent and she is just fantastic! She is a 12 month old Staffy bull who’s had a bit of a rough time in her short life. She has had a hip problem which, since her operation seems to be much better now, we’ve already been playing in the garden! I’m sure it won’t be long before you see Tia popping up on the site as she will most probably be modelling everything we can fit her into! Here she is modelling our large gem dog collar!

Hello all and welcome to the Pretty Paws Accessories Blog! Finally we are live with the website! It’s been a lot of hard work over the last few months, there’s been many, many 16 hour days but hopefully all our hard work has paid off.

We went live on the Friday 16th March and we’ve already had a number of orders, thank you to those people, I hope it’s a good sign for the future! We are very happy with our current products, especially the clothing, we are also very proud to be stocking such high profile names. It will not end there though, we have already sourced a number of new items, a fantastic new pet bed from Posh Pet Bedding and a number of dog collars and leads by various designers. We are just waiting on the product images, thanks go to seagull photography for that. Once we have the images and product description the new items will be listed and I’ll update the Blog with details.
